G A G Dodd, Headmaster 1993 to 2001

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Guy Dodd on Friday, 8 May 2020.

Following a tragic accident at his home he was taken to Treliske hospital and then air-lifted to Derriford hospital where he passed away, peacefully, on Friday afternoon.

Guy Dodd was Headmaster of Truro School from 1993 to 2001 and Chair of the Truro School Foundation from its creation in 2016 to January 2020. He will be warmly remembered by all those who met him during those times as either pupil, teacher, parent or alumni. I know that I am not the only one who felt it a privilege and an honour to have worked with him; he was a true gentleman, a great and kind man. One of our former colleagues described him as “great and lovely, and moral…tough as boots when he needed to be. Kind. Optimistic, always – a believer in his staff and pupils. Oh dear oh dear, a light has gone out.”  How true those words.

I know that you will all join me in sending our sincere condolences to Helen, Angus, Tom, Janie and their families. We will, of course, want to recognise the enormous contribution Guy made to our School and details will follow, in time, of how the School will be remembering him.

In the meantime, the Development Office will be opening a Book of Condolence; please use the form below to submit your message. You can view the messages already submitted to the Book of Condolence here.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen and the family.
