Old Truronian Newsletter, Christmas 2025

Dear Old Truronians

Welcome to the Christmas Newsletter for December 2025.

In October, we welcomed more than 70 Old Truronians and their guests to the Annual Reunion Dinner. Our Guest of Honour was Mr Dennis Keam (Head of DT, 1962–98), who represented the teaching staff, past and present, and aimed to bring everyone together with his humorous speech and reflections of his teaching days. We welcomed OTs from across the decades, with the earliest Old Truronian from the class of 1957 and the most recent from 2020. It is humbling to be in a room full of individuals who all began their journeys in the same school, yet have gone on to forge such diverse paths in life. Moments like these remind us of what a privilege it is to be able to bring together so many members of the OT community. Immense thanks to everyone who attended. It is very much appreciated how far many of you travel to attend, the organisation and cost of coming all the way to Truro is not easy for all, and for that we are extremely grateful to you. Finally, we cannot write this without thanking the many partners of OTs who continue to attend year on year as a guest. We have enjoyed getting to know you all over the years and your attendance is always welcome. This year’s Dinner marked the 102nd gathering – long may this wonderful tradition continue.

Our sincere thanks go to Alison Morton CO80, Melanie Dick CO80, Steve Lane CO80, and Luke Dunstone CO80, all of whom took time just before the Dinner to be interviewed on camera about their memories of girls first joining the Sixth Form in 1976. Their contributions will form part of a short film celebrating 50 Years of Co-Education at Truro School, due for release next year. We look forward to sharing more updates, including details of a special celebratory dinner planned for August 2026. In the meantime, we are reaching out particularly to the girls who joined in 1976 and who remember those early co-educational days. We would love to record your memories for the anniversary and preserve them in the school archive in perpetuity for future generations. If you are able to help us commemorate this milestone, please do get in touch.

In other OT news, we were delighted to hear from Colin Palmer CO75, who has set up an informal Facebook group for his year. Colin warmly invites any members of the Class of 1975 to join as a place to reconnect with friends and share old photographs. To request access to the group, please use this link provided > Truro School Class of 75.

As we look ahead to the final weeks of the year, we hope you will join us for Nine Lessons and Carols on Tuesday 16 December at Truro Cathedral. Everyone is welcome, no RSVP required.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

50 Years of Co-Education

In 2026, Truro School will be celebrating 50 years of co-education, the first girls having joined in the Sixth Form in 1976. To celebrate this anniversary, the Development and Alumni Relations team are hoping to commemorate this by sharing memories from Old Truronians about the school turning co-educational.

If you feel able to contribute, we would be grateful if you could complete the simple form via the link ‘Your Memories’. Thank you.
