Boarding Options for Military Families

At Truro School, we are proud to support military families by offering an exclusive boarding school package for Forces families in receipt of the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). Under this offer, families pay only 10% of our boarding fee in addition to CEA.

Our welcoming day and boarding community includes children from military families, service families, and those whose parents live and work overseas. We understand that stability, consistency, and a nurturing environment are vital for Forces children. Our experienced pastoral staff, excellent academic provision, and rich co-curricular opportunities ensure that every pupil feels supported to thrive both personally and academically.

Boarders at Truro School enjoy access to the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre, offering exceptional facilities for swimming, fitness, and a wide range of sports. Our enviable Cornish location also allows pupils to take part in an outstanding outdoor education programme, making the most of Cornwall’s coastline and countryside. From surfing, sailing, and kayaking to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Ten Tors, Truro School pupils enjoy adventure, leadership, and teamwork at every stage.

As one of the South West’s leading independent boarding schools, Truro School provides a well-rounded education that combines academic challenge, creativity, wellbeing, and opportunity. With renowned programmes in music, drama, art, and sport, we ensure every child can explore their talents within a supportive, values-driven community.

Located in the heart of Cornwall, Truro School is easily accessible from key military bases across the South West, making it an ideal choice for Forces families seeking continuity of education for their children.

We warmly invite service families to visit us for an Open Day, a personal tour, or a boarding taster experience to see first-hand what life at Truro School offers.

What is the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA)?

The Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) supports Armed Forces families by helping to maintain consistent education for their children, even when postings require relocation. Many military parents choose boarding schools as they offer the most stable and secure educational environment during transitions.

In most cases, eligible families can claim CEA (also known as the Children’s Education Allowance) to cover a significant portion of boarding school fees, ensuring that their child’s education continues uninterrupted.

You can find out more about the Continuity of Education Allowance on the UK Government website:
