Means-Tested and Armed Forces Bursaries provide assistance for some families up to the value of the full fees.
We offer means-tested bursaries to support wider access to a Truro School education. These bursaries are designed to help pupils who would thrive at Truro School but whose family circumstances mean the school fees are otherwise unaffordable.
Any family may apply for financial assistance by following the application steps below. Awards can range from 5% up to 100% of fees, depending on assessed need. Applications are assessed independently by Bursary Administration Ltd (BAL), a specialist external organisation whose staff are DBS checked and bound by confidentiality agreements.
The standard entry points for bursary applications are at 11+, 13+ and 16+, although we also welcome applications at other Senior School ages, as well as from current families whose circumstances change unexpectedly. Bursary awards are reviewed annually, with parents reassessed each year.
Although we cannot support every family who applies, we are committed to making bursaries available as fairly as possible. To help us do this, it’s important that all applicants complete the process in full. In addition to current income, we also take into account earning potential, capital and assets. For example, where there are two partners, both would normally be expected to be employed unless prevented by incapacity, childcare, caring responsibilities, or work requirements, in which case an average local salary may be assumed. Families with significant savings, investments, or home equity would be expected to draw on these to help with school fees.

At Truro School, we are proud to support military families by offering an exclusive boarding school package for Forces families in receipt of the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). Under this offer, families pay only 10% of our boarding fee in addition to CEA.
If you are in receipt of CEA, or believe you are eligible for CEA, and wish to discuss an application to the school in greater detail, please contact our Admissions Office by email, [email protected] or 01872 246062.
What is Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA)?
Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) is offered to assist Service families in maintaining continuity of education for their children which would otherwise be denied due to the movement of their family as a consequence of their assignments and posts. Some parents believe that boarding schools offer the most stable approach to their child’s education, and in most cases, they will be entitled to CEA (also known as Children’s Education Allowance).
