Weekly News from Pre-Prep 06.11.26

As a new half term begins, it has been another busy and enjoyable week in Truro School Pre-Prep, with pupils across every year group learning both in and out of the classroom.

In preparation for Guy Fawkes Night, Nursery pupils watched a firework display and discussed the different noises the fireworks made, using some brilliant adjectives to describe how they sounded and looked, before creating their own fireworks with paint and glitter.

Reception pupils have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot and exploring why we mark the 5th of November with fireworks, while in maths they have been using objects to help them divide numbers. A dough disco session in the hall has been helping to strengthen and improve their fine motor skills.

Year 1 pupils have been using their senses to imagine what it might be like in the jungle, learning what verbs are and how to use them to add detail to their writing. In PE, they have been learning the fundamentals of gymnastics and hockey.

Year 2 pupils have begun exploring the Christmas Nativity and learning some songs, and in literacy they drew on their previous story-writing learning to create their own Tinga Tinga tales.

Come and see why our Nursery and Reception settings provide the perfect first step. Join us for our Early Years Open Morning on Saturday 14 November, 9.30am to 11.30am. Explore the Enchanted Garden, meet our teachers and see learning in action. Register via the link or email [email protected].
