Sports Round Up 16.10.26

Rugby
Congratulations to the U13 rugby team, who were crowned winners of the Cornwall County Rugby Festival at Penrice School. The boys produced an outstanding performance, winning all eight of their matches to finish unbeaten. After topping their morning group with an impressive 20 tries, Truro continued their strong form in the afternoon, securing hard-fought victories against Penryn and Mounts Bay. Their success was built on excellent defensive organisation, conceding just one try throughout the day. Well done to the whole squad on a fantastic achievement!

Congratulations also to the U15 rugby team, who were involved in a cracker of a game against Mounts Bay in a county cup match, winning 39 – 34, after being down 10 – 22 at half time. It was a wonderful team performance, and Truro School is now through to the next round.

Tennis
The Boys’ U16 tennis team competed in the Regional Qualifiers against West Buckland after becoming Cornwall champions and progressing through the county competition. Jonny C secured an impressive victory at number one singles, while Sunny P, Wilfy B and Thomas R all battled hard in their respective matches. West Buckland took both doubles matches to secure the overall result, but the boys demonstrated determination and competitive spirit throughout. Head Tennis Coach Mr Askey praised the team’s efforts, highlighting Jonny’s leadership and encouraging the boys to keep working hard in training. Well done to the team on reaching this stage of the competition!

Netball
The week began with cup success for our U15 and U14 netball teams in the next rounds of the SnS Cup. The U15s faced Newquay Tretharras, while the U14s took on Truro High School. Both teams produced impressive performances to secure well-deserved wins against strong opposition.

A huge congratulations to the U16 netball team who qualified for the regional finals last weekend at their county tournament. Well done to all players involved. Mrs Newton commented on how superbly all played to secure runners-up against a highly competitive group of schools. We can’t wait to see how the group get on in the finals later on next term.

Congratulations to all the pupils involved on an excellent start to the week!
