A-Level French student Bea has been awarded the Truro Morlaix Twinning Association Prize, a prestigious recognition presented on Friday 9 October at Truro Public Library.
The prize was given by Rachel Killick, Chair of the Truro Morlaix Twinning Association, after Bea was nominated by Ms Magnin, MFL Teacher, for her commitment to and improvement in French. Bea was a well-deserved recipient alongside another student from Truro College, and staff, students, friends, families and representatives of the Association gathered at the library to celebrate. Bea hopes the award might open doors to an exchange with the Association once she turns 18, to further improve her language skills.
Asked why she chose to study her A-Levels at Truro School, Bea said: “I liked the smaller class sizes, particularly with French. You get a lot of one-to-one support and speaking time as well as the opportunities to do all of the clubs and activities. I’m currently doing the school musical and last year did lots with the school’s Charity Committee. You get so much support and encouragement, and that’s one of the reasons I’d encourage people to stay. I already knew the teachers, and they knew me, and how I learn, so it has really helped.”
This kind of personal recognition and support is central to the strength of A-Level provision at Truro School, which is currently ranked Number 1 in Cornwall and in the Top 10% nationally for ALPS scores.
With plans for a gap year before university, Bea has a bright future ahead, and we are extremely proud of her and her award.
