The Seal of Approval for Year 5 Surf Day

Truro School Prep’s Year 5 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable surf day, this year held at Praa Sands. With wetsuits on and boards at the ready, pupils took to the water under the expert guidance of the team from Makai surf school.

The day was designed to support pupils in building both their surfing technique and their confidence in the ocean. As part of the experience, pupils also learnt important water safety skills, including how to identify rip currents.

Throughout the day, pupils developed their abilities in the water, with many successfully standing up and riding waves for the very first time. There were cheers, laughter and a strong sense of achievement as each child challenged themselves and supported their peers.

Adding to the magic of the day, a group of playful seals appeared towards the end of the session,  providing a “seal of approval” for our pupils’ surfing skills.

We would like to thank the team at Makai for creating such a positive and supportive environment, and our amazing staff and courageous, confident pupils who made the surf day a highlight of the Year 5 calendar.
