Diving into the Sixth Form Diploma

Truro School’s Sixth Form Diploma Aspire continues to offer an exciting and forward-thinking framework of opportunities, designed to complement our outstanding A-Level provision. As we look ahead to 2026 and beyond, the Diploma reflects a clear commitment to developing confident, capable and well-rounded young adults who are ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

While the A-Level success that places us within the top 10% of schools nationally remains at the heart of the Sixth Form journey, Aspire recognises that academic achievement alone is no longer enough. The Diploma is built around three key strands: supra-curricular learning, personal growth, and leadership and service. Its framework gives students the chance to develop essential life skills, values and experiences that support ambition, wellbeing and long-term success beyond school.

This term, Discover Scuba and Free Diving sessions have been back in the pool. Led by the Cornish Diving Centre, students master the fundamentals of scuba diving on a PADI-certified course.

These sessions are just one example of the diverse and innovative modules available through the Diploma, which includes practical car maintenance workshops, cookery skills sessions, and self-defence. Each experience is carefully chosen to equip students with practical know-how, resilience and self-belief.

The Sixth Form Diploma Aspire exemplifies Truro School’s holistic approach to an education that nurtures academic excellence while ensuring students leave school with the skills, experiences and confidence to shape their own futures.
