It has been another busy week in Truro School Pre-Prep, with Nursery exploring the theme ‘Whatever Next’ in Drawing Club. Pupils read the story and discussed the vocabulary that may be new to some, and used actions to remember the new words. This week, the children have continued to enjoy the vet’s role play, and some have been practising name writing.
This week, pupils in Reception have started their new topic on machines. The classes have been finding different machines in our environment and discussing what we use them for and how they help us.
Pupils have welcomed another new fishy arrival in Reception this week, and we are pleased to announce that baby Jesus has a new sibling! The children were very excited to discover the new baby fish and enjoyed watching him adapt to his new habitat. We have also found time for some yoga, learning to use our bodies in a controlled way and spending some time being mindful.
In art this week, Year 1 has been exploring William Morris’ wallpaper designs and having a go at creating their own Victorian designs. In literacy this week, they have been learning about recipe writing, exploring time order connectives and using ‘bossy’ verbs when giving instructions.
This week in literacy, Year 2 pupils have enjoyed reading poems about aliens. In science, they have been learning about which materials are absorbent and conducting experiments to test how absorbent they are.
