Caretaker

Full Time / Permanent / All year round

Salary: Core hours are paid at the hourly rate of £12.62. An enhanced rate is paid for lates (7-10pm) and weekends, at £16.41 per hour (a 30% uplift).

Start Date: July 2025

As an integral and key member of the School caretaking team, this role will be responsible for managing access to the School, conducting minor maintenance and grounds works, preparing the School for events, ensuring the site is kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition and security is maintained.

This role requires flexibility in terms of providing cover during the school week and also the ability to flex shifts in order to provide holiday cover for the other caretakers.

The role will be based at our Senior Site and is 37.5 hours per week which is based on a 4- week rotational shift pattern. Further information on the shift pattern is set out in the Job Pack, but if you have any questions regarding this, please get in touch.

Admissions Officer

Part Time / Permanent / Term Time Only Plus

Salary: FTE salary of £25,605 – £29,775pa (dependent upon skills and experience). This will be pro rata based on your contracted hours.

Start Date: August / September 2025

We are seeking a motivated and positive individual to join our busy Admissions team here at Truro School.

The Admissions Department is purposeful and busy all year-round, engaging with prospective parents and supporting them and their children through the exciting journey of admissions and induction into our successful school. Our focus is on pupil recruitment, including day pupils from across Cornwall and boarders from the wider UK and internationally.

Excellent customer service and relationship development is at the core of this role, combined with careful data management and a genuine passion for Truro School, its values, and the opportunities opened up here for children who will be able to thrive on the educational journeys we deliver.

This is an exciting and rewarding role that will put the successful applicant at the heart of relationships with families that empower children and potentially change their lives. The role requires professionalism, warmth, strong people skills, organisation, and a positive and proactive approach throughout our admissions journeys.

This role is a permanent position working part time, 25 hours per week, term-time only plus an additional 15 days (3 weeks) during the holidays.

Your shift pattern will be: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Minibus Driver- 2 roles available

21 Hours per week and 30 hours per week / Permanent / Term Time Only

Salary: £14.14 per hour (this includes holiday pay)

 

Role 1- 30 hours per week (includes split shifts). The shift pattern is-

·         Monday – Friday: AM shift 6:15am – 9:15am – PM shift 4:15pm – 7:15pm

(Friday PM shift is 3:30pm – 6:30pm)

Role 2- 21 hours per week (includes split shifts). The shift pattern is-

·         Monday – Wednesday: 6:15am – 9:15am.

·         Thursday AM shift: 6:15am – 9:15am – PM shift: 4:30pm – 7:30pm

·         Friday AM shift: 6:15am – 9:15am – PM shift: 3:30pm – 6:30pm

 

Start Date: September 2025

The Minibus Driver is primarily responsible for driving pupils to and from School daily during term time and pupils and staff on occasional journeys on request. They are responsible for the operating condition and cleanliness of the vehicles to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.

The successful candidates must be a clean, D1 licence holder and be willing to under a Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme Course (MIDAS).

Truro School Enterprises Business Support and Technical Assistant

Full-Time / Permanent / All Year Round

Salary: £28,850- £33,680pa (dependent on skills and experience). 

Start Date: June 2025

Truro School has an Enterprise Company (TSE) to manage the more commercial aspects of the operations, of which all the profits are fed directly back into the School for the benefit of the children. This new role will assist the Head of Truro School Enterprises with the growth and delivery of the many business areas of those activities.

The commercial activities of TSE include the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre, Cookery School and Cafes, Burrell Theatre, events and lettings (residential and corporate), advertising revenue, the Heseltine Gallery, commercial contracts and new initiatives/revenue streams.

The key purpose of this exciting role is to assist with the development, planning, smooth running and administration of all commercial activities, with many opportunities for hands on experience within the business areas to generate revenue, and potential revenue, from the Truro School sites and facilities. Please note, this role will also assist with, and attend, the School’s internal events programme including drama productions, shows, the annual Festival and the Summer Ball as well as external events and hires.

This is a varied, all year-round role that requires the postholder to be able to work flexibly including evenings, weekends and during school holidays.

Compliance Officer

We are looking for an experienced and proactive manager who will oversee the smooth and effective running of the School’s Health & Safety, Security and Compliance functions. This role involves developing, implementing and maintaining relevant policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment for pupils, staff and visitors. The postholder will act as the School’s Health and Safety responsible person and the designated Data protection Officer, advising senior leaders, including the Head and Chief Operating officer on all matters related to safety, risk and compliance.

The Compliance Officer will lead and advise the Chief Operating Officer and Head in the management of Health and Safety. Additionally, the postholder will foster a positive culture of sustainability and continuous improvement aligned with the School’s strategic aims.

Lifeguard/Sports Assistant (Zero Hours)

£12.62 per hour (£8.60ph for U18’s)

Start Date: June, 2025

We are looking for friendly and motivated Lifeguards/Sports Assistants to provide daily support to the Duty Manager in the effective operation of the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre and ensuring the safety of pool users by preventing and responding to emergencies. You’ll assist in making sure all facilities are safe and clean, and work as part of the lifeguard team in ensuring health and safety on the poolside, and provide first response to any rescue/first aid needs.

You’ll also support the preparation of sports equipment including setting up, issue and recovery of equipment as required for each activity as well as undertaking administrative and reception duties relating to bookings and issuing tickets.

The role is zero hours, covering a range of shifts during the evenings and weekends depending on availability. There will be potential to have permanent hours from September.
