Our Pre-Prep pupils have made confident and purposeful starts to the new half term.
In Nursery, pupils have enjoyed practising pouring and filling using different-sized and shaped containers. There was a lot of brilliant mathematical language used, including full and empty.
This week we have started ‘The Drawing Club,’ which is all about storytelling, creativity and builds upon our fabulous imaginations. This week in Drawing Club, we are exploring ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We have begun learning new vocabulary based on the story and have enjoyed reading the story together.
Reception has been learning all about the history of Guy Fawkes and why we have fireworks. We have painted our own fireworks and then used our phonics to write onomatopoeic words to describe the sound they make. In music, we created our own fireworks dance!
In literacy this week, Year 1 pupils have welcomed an Angry Elephant in Orange Underpants into our classrooms to help us learn the difference between vowels and consonants. In science, we have been showing our habitat projects and discussing what materials we used to create them.
In PE, we have started learning and practising the fundamental skills you need to play hockey.
Preparations for the school play are well underway in Year 2. We have started learning our lines and practising the Christmas songs. In maths, we have been expanding our understanding of shapes by exploring their symmetry.
