With some incredible visitors, special days and unforgettable trips, this week has been full of energy and enthusiasm at Pre-Prep.
This week in Nursery, we have looked at our calendar to help us count down the days until our school trip to Maenporth Beach. We have marked our trip on the calendar, and we cross off the days every morning.
In Reception, we have continued with our topic about dogs with some exciting visitors from Cornwall Search Dogs. We have also been identifying different patterns in nature and using natural objects to create repeating patterns. Drawing Club has been incredibly popular this week, and the children have enjoyed creating their own magic codes and imaginative stories. We have been working on our fine motor skills with our dough disco, and Freddie the Frog has been helping us with our phonics.
In maths this week, Year 1 have been practising number fluency and exploring number bonds to 10 and 20. We’ve had a lot of fun looking at the pictures of all the rockpool treasures we found on our beach safari trip with Big F-T. In literacy, we’ve started to make our own leaflets about the marine life we saw.
Excitement levels are high for our Year 2 Roman Day this week! We have continued to learn many interesting facts about the Romans and their way of life. In literacy, the children are beginning to look at the Tinga Tinga tales, a form of traditional African animal folktale and have created our story maps. We have also continued to work on our times tables in maths and can use the fact 5 x 5 = 25 to help us solve other sums.
