This week in Truro School Pre-Prep has been full of creativity, curiosity and new experiences across all year groups.
In Nursery, the children have made the most of the outdoors, enjoying imaginative play as builders fixing trees, dinosaurs exploring the greenery, and digging enthusiasts busy in the pit. They have also been busy creating clay medals in preparation for Father’s Day and continuing to build their knowledge of “special friends” during their phonics sessions.
Reception has had a particularly exciting week, warmly welcoming new friends into the classroom and helping them to settle in with confidence. In music, the children explored the concept of discord, discovering how notes can combine to create both harmonious and clashing sounds. They even took their first steps into composition, creating their own simple pieces of music.
Year 1 pupils have been developing their sporting and storytelling skills. In PE, they have been enjoying cricket, focusing on improving their batting technique. In literacy, they have been immersed in the Cornish tale of The Mousehole Cat, bringing the story to life through their learning, while in science, they have been dissecting flowers.
Year 2 have been looking ahead to the future, enjoying a visit to the Year 6 Careers Fair where they explored a wide range of possible jobs and aspirations. In literacy, they have been studying Somebody Swallowed Stanley, creating detailed story maps before confidently rewriting the story in their own words.
It has been another wonderful week of learning, exploration and achievement across the Pre-Prep, with pupils continuing to grow in confidence, creativity and independence.
