At Truro School, we are proud to carefully support the key transitions in a child’s school life as they progress with us from Nursery all the way through to Sixth Form. In September, our Year 2 children will move up to Year 3 in the Prep, and with that, take greater ownership of their personal learning journey.
In order to ease this transition, staff in Years 2 and 3 have implemented a programme of events specially designed to allow our eldest Pre-Prep pupils to hit the ground running in the Prep in September. Although Truro School Prep is one school from 3-11, the Pre-Prep and Prep are set in different buildings. Life in Year 3 will also involve more transitions and an even greater variety within lessons, as our pupils become accustomed to more specialist teachers and new subjects, like Design Technology (DT).
At Truro School Prep, we are fortunate to have a specialist DT teacher, Mrs Knight, and a beautiful DT room. This week, our Year 2 pupils have spent time here, getting to know Mrs Knight and familiarising themselves with the new setting, safety rules, tools and techniques that they will hone as they continue their time at the Prep.
Making robot heads gave pupils the chance to experiment with sanding, saws, screwdrivers, glue guns and master design techniques. As you can see from our photos, creativity and confidence shone through, and we were extremely proud of our pupils, who behaved beautifully and thoroughly enjoyed their first DT lesson.
