All are welcome to this reunion for Old Truronians in celebration of the Geology department at Truro School. We are delighted that Mr Ian Kenyon, former Teacher of Geology (1980-2021) will be attending as a Guest of Honour.
As many Old Truronians will know, Ian taught Geology at Truro School for the best part of 41 years after joining in 1980.
For the first 20 years, Ian was a teacher in the combined Geography and Geology department, with special responsibility for Geology. In 2009, he became Head of Geology. During his time, the department received 11 awards from the Good Schools Guide. In four of the last six years of his teaching, he taught the highest scoring GCSE candidate in the country. In 1997, 2013 and 2016, he taught the highest scoring A Level candidate in the country, with two students achieving full marks. Ian is and will soon also be retiring from being a principal examiner and has also worked for the Geological Society in London, training teachers. He is held in highest regard by the geological community, by colleagues at Truro School and by Old Truronians all around the world. During his time the Geology department became, and still is, the best in the UK.
The event will include a buffet lunch, tours of the Geology classrooms, and a trip to the pub after!
