At the end of last half term, all Year 9 drama pupils competed in the inaugural House Drama Competition. This was a huge challenge, as each pupil had to perform solo, delivering a monologue speech they had created themselves.
Pupils were scored on creativity, line learning, depth of character, vocal skills, and their ability to engage the audience.
Many of them exceeded their own expectations and we were treated to some spectacular performances and some very moving performances. Many pupils learned that they have got the willpower and stamina to step up and perform solo, a real lesson for life.
The competition was very close, but the final results were, in reverse order…
Fourth place, with 293 points – Wickett
Third, with 335 points – Vinter
In second place, with 382 points – School
And the victors, with 389 points – Smith
Several of the pupils really stood out, having gone the extra mile with their monologues. There are individual prizes for the three best performances, which go to, in reverse order….
Third place – Tino M
Second place – Selena W
First place – Joseph T
Well done, Year 9 Drama.
