With our Year 11 pupils already busy preparing for GCSEs, they also need to look to the future and decide which A-Levels will shape what comes next for them.
At Truro School, we want that choice to feel clear rather than overwhelming, which is why our Senior Prefect and Subject Prefect teams are running weekly A-Level Subject Breakfasts. Over a bite to eat, Year 11 pupils hear first-hand from current Sixth Formers what each subject involves, what is expected of them and where it can lead.
With Drama, Theatre Studies and Music on the menu in one session, prefects explain what makes each subject special at Truro School. They have plenty to draw on after a Class of 2026 that delivered the school’s strongest A-Level results in over a decade, with 23% of grades at A*, 50% at A* or A, 80% at A* to B and a 100% pass rate. These results place Truro School in the top 10% nationally for value added for the third year running, and 83% of the cohort also gained a Gold or Silver Sixth Form Diploma award.
With English, DT and Economics breakfasts still to come, we are sure these will continue to be helpful and inspiring sessions for our Year 11s.
