Weekly News from Pre-Prep 25.09.26

It has been another busy, creative and courageous week at Truro School Pre-Prep as our children continue to get to know each other and their teachers, discover exciting new topics and challenge themselves in new ways.

In Nursery, the children started exploring the golden rules this week, talking about why they matter and how they help keep everyone safe. Today’s focus was “we are gentle”, discussing being gentle to friends, toys, grown-ups, nature and themselves.

Reception have been exploring “Little Miss Muffet” in Drawing Club, learning about spiders and their webs, while in maths they have been learning how to fill five-frames correctly.

In Year 1, literacy has focused on the difference between vowels and consonants, exploring long and short vowel sounds. In RE, they have been learning about the Hindu creation story.

Year 2 is learning about the story of Boudica and the Celts in Topic, in preparation for their Roman Day. In art, they visited the art studio to print pictures with ink, and at lunchtime this week they have been gardening and planting seeds in the poly tunnel.

Early Years Open Morning

During the morning, you will have the opportunity to discover why our Nursery and Reception settings will provide the perfect first step for your little one. You will also be able to explore the rest of the Prep School and take part in some activities throughout the morning.

In between exploring our fantastic Enchanted Garden and on-site facilities, including our swimming pool and sports hall, you will have time to talk to our dedicated team of teachers and staff and view the inspiring educational and co-curricular activities available to your child.

From teacher-led Nursery provision to specialist teachers for swimming, forest school, music and more, we will guide you through our structured early learning programme, which carefully balances continuous provision (play-based learning) with phonics, maths and early writing.
