This week in Truro School Pre-Prep, pupils across Nursery to Year 2 have enjoyed a wide range of creative, collaborative and active learning experiences.

In Nursery, the children began their afternoon by looking carefully at the calendar and celebrating the friends with September birthdays, with some decorating balloons for birthday cards to give to their friends on their special day. They also continued exploring different areas of the school grounds, venturing into the treehouse, the apple orchard, the enchanted garden and the woods.

Reception pupils have been focusing on the rhyme ‘London Bridge is Falling Down’ in music, forming human bridges and building their own in Forest School. In maths, they have been subitising with conkers, while in literacy they have been learning their phonics.

In Year 1, pupils have been practising counting forwards to and backwards from 20 in maths, as well as learning how to count in 2s. In science, they have been learning about different animal groups and exploring their features.

Year 2 have continued building their understanding of number, increasing their fluency in recalling the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. In Topic, they have learnt how the Roman Empire spread throughout history, exploring chronology and how timelines are established. In science, they have studied animals and their offspring, asking questions about the similarities and differences across different animal types.
