Truro School’s Year 12 pupils took part in a dynamic and informative series of Post-18 Options Days, designed to support them as they begin to shape their futures beyond Sixth Form.
Across the two days, pupils engaged in a carousel of activities that brought together universities, industry professionals, alumni and specialist speakers. Sessions covered a broad spectrum of pathways, including university applications, degree apprenticeships, careers in the Armed Forces and law, ensuring that every pupil could explore opportunities aligned with their interests and ambitions.
Representatives from leading universities joined the programme alongside guest speakers offering insights into specific career pathways. Pupils deepened their understanding of subjects such as personal statements, student finance, and life at university, while also exploring alternative routes, including apprenticeships and professional training programmes.
These options days form an important part of Truro School’s commitment to providing personalised guidance for every Sixth Former. By exposing pupils to a wide range of options and real-world experiences, the School ensures that each individual is empowered to make informed and confident decisions about their next steps.
This tailored approach is reflected in the School’s outstanding outcomes. In 2025, Truro School was the top A-Level provider in Cornwall, with 80% of grades awarded at A*–B and 50% at A*/A. The School is also placed in the top 10% nationally for value-added, highlighting the excellent progress pupils make compared to peers of similar ability across the country.
Just as importantly, these results translate into meaningful destinations. Truro School pupils progress to a wide range of high-quality next steps, including Oxbridge, Medicine, and leading international universities. We have also had students go on to apprenticeships and even training to become pilots. Impressively, last year, over 99% of Truro School students secured their chosen pathway within 24 hours of receiving their A-Level results.
We look forward to seeing this year’s cohort continue to explore their ambitions and take the next steps towards exciting futures.
