Sixth Form Taster Day

Exploring their next steps, our current 5th Year and prospective Sixth Form students gathered for an inspiring taster day, designed to offer a glimpse into Sixth Form life at Truro School. This unique opportunity empowers pupils to explore their options and take a step towards shaping their future career paths.

The transition from GCSEs to A-Levels is a significant milestone and Truro School is proud to support this journey with personalised approaches, tailored teaching and innovative learning methods. Our student-focused facilities, including the welcoming Sixth Form Café and the newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre, further enhance the Sixth Form experience.

Throughout the day, pupils participated in small-group taster sessions. In psychology with Mrs Stone, lively discussions explored normative and informational social influence. Prospective geology students were measuring a curious set of dinosaur footprints to establish the likely scenario and collect evidence to estimate the size and species of dinosaurs. Economics sessions sparked debate on scarcity and choice, with their solutions for overcoming the problem leading to interesting discussions about capitalism, communism and socialist economic principles. Business Studies pupils were tasked with planning an event and in teams looked at the many factors including fixed and variable costs. Meanwhile, other taster sessions offered equally engaging and valuable experiences across a wide range of subjects.

Thank you to the pupils for their enthusiastic participation and to our dedicated teachers for creating such engaging and inspiring sessions. We hope the taster day provided a valuable experience for everyone involved.
