Online Safety Shared at Prep

Mrs Felicity Thurlow, Head of Lower School at Truro School, and Mrs Amy Holman, Head of PSHE at Truro School, visited Truro School Prep to deliver an important and informative talk on online safety awareness for parents.

Having trained with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), they were able to share their specialist knowledge and training around online child sexual abuse, including how to recognise and respond to concerns. The session explored how technology can escalate the risks of harm and facilitate offline abuse.

The talk also highlighted what helps and hinders conversations with children and young people about online safety, focusing on what young people want and need to feel supported. With research showing that 1 in 6 parents do not talk to their children about online safety, the Truro School team promoted CEOP’s #AskTheAwkward campaign.

Through a series of activities, discussions and shared resources, parents were empowered with the confidence and tools to help their children navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
