Nursery pupils spent a day at Maenporth Beach, a trip centred on spending time together, getting to know one another, and building new and strengthening existing friendships. For most children, it was their first school trip, and for many, their first time on a coach, so excitement ran high and nerves lingered, with even the journey feeling like a big first step.
On the beach, pupils built sandcastles, turtles, starfish and more, explored mermaid’s purses and had plenty of time to play in a different environment. They walked down to the water for a paddle and a splash, running in and out of the sea and getting very wet. After a quick change of clothes, they enjoyed a picnic while talking about what they could hear, smell and see at the beach.
The day reflected our Know, Challenge, Empower ethos at Truro School, which runs from Nursery through to Sixth Form. Our wonderful teacher-led Nursery team came to know each child a little better outside the classroom, pupils were challenged to try new experiences, and they were empowered as they overcame their nerves and grew in confidence. Thank you to Nursery for a brilliant day, as all the children were fabulous.
