The Pre-Prep have been taking part in the RSPB Big School’s Birdwatch this January. As a school, we have been working hard to create different habitats around Truro School Prep to help give a home to all the animals that might live here. It has been wonderful to take the time to observe some of them this month.
The children have been putting out sunflower seeds and have been making bird hides so we can see what birds arrive. They have been brilliant at listening to bird song and at being quiet and still. The Merlin Bird song identifier app has helped us to work out the songs we are hearing.
You can join the Big Garden Birdwatch at home this coming weekend (24th to 26 January 2025) and can download lots of free resources from the RSPB website.
The Big Garden Birdwatch survey is the world’s biggest annual citizen science survey. The information helps scientists to learn more about species population numbers. Let us know how you get on!
