Healthy Eating Week 2026

Healthy Eating Week at Truro School was a wonderful celebration of food, wellbeing and connection, reinforcing the school’s commitment to nurturing the whole child and preparing pupils for both today and their future.

Running across the week, a varied programme of events invited pupils from different year groups to engage with food in meaningful and practical ways. From tutor-time activities and breakfast sessions designed to fuel both body and mind to hands-on opportunities in the Cookery School, the timetable encouraged pupils to explore healthy choices while building confidence and independence.

The week also welcomed inspiring guest speakers, including Food and Farming reporter and Truro School alumni Anna-Marie Julyan (CO03) and Kate Arjomandi-Attlee, Chef and founder of Sabzi (also an alumni, CO06). They offered valuable insights into food, nutrition and wellbeing, and highlighted the importance of making informed, positive lifestyle choices. These experiences supported pupils in understanding the wider impact of what they eat on their health, learning and futures.

A particular highlight for staff was a sauerkraut-making workshop held in the Cookery School, led by Aneta Staciwa, a cookery teacher based in Cornwall. Staff began by sampling Jack’s kombucha before learning the art of fermentation and creating their own sauerkraut. The session provided not only a hands-on culinary experience but also a rare opportunity for colleagues to come together, chat and reconnect in a relaxed and sociable setting. Aneta’s time and expertise, offered voluntarily, were greatly appreciated by all who attended.

Healthy Eating Week highlights Truro School’s holistic approach to education, where wellbeing, life skills and community are placed alongside academic achievement.

With thanks to Tareg and the entire Truro School Cookery Team, as well as the visiting speakers and contributors, for making the week so inspiring, meaningful and engaging.
