Prep opened its doors to a very special group of visitors as we welcomed our pupils’ grandparents for our annual Grandparents Cream Tea Afternoon, celebrating family, connection and the relationships that span generations. Now in its third year, this is one of the most eagerly anticipated and treasured events in our Prep calendar.
The event began with a warm welcome, as grandparents were treated to moving musical performances from some of our talented pupils. Head of Prep, Mr Rob Morse, then shared a heartfelt reflection on the important role grandparents play in the lives of our children, speaking about the support, wisdom and encouragement they bring, perfectly capturing the essence of the afternoon.
The excitement peaked as the grandparents left the hall to meet their grandchildren, who were all eagerly lined up, ready and waiting. With great pride, the children led their grandparents on tours of the school, sharing the spaces that shape their daily experiences, from our outdoor learning areas and play spaces to specialist facilities including the swimming pool, DT room, sports hall, music room and computer suite. It was a wonderful opportunity for grandparents to see school life through the eyes of their grandchildren and to feel part of their learning journey.
Throughout the afternoon, each group was also treated to a traditional Cornish cream tea in the dining room. Freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam were enjoyed alongside cups of tea and joyful conversation, with the room filled with laughter and a real sense of togetherness.
For those unable to welcome grandparents in person, pupils enjoyed an equally fun-filled afternoon of games and treats on the school field.
A huge thanks must go to all of the pupils who made such excellent tour guides, our families for their support and time and special thanks to our incredible staff, particularly to our catering, grounds and caretaking teams, for the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to bring these events to life.
Events like this reflect the strong sense of community that sits at the heart of Truro School Prep. It was a pleasure to bring families together in such a meaningful way, and we are grateful to all who joined us. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
