As a part of their new topic on dinosaurs, our lucky Reception children were treated to a fascinating talk from Reuben’s dad, Dr Mike Williams. Dr Williams shared his collection of fossils including a fly trapped in amber, a pre-historic mammoth tooth and an ichthyosaur vertebra.
The enraptured pupils were able to handle the fossils, some of which were millions of years old.
Dr Williams’ talk tied in with the children’s work on timelines this week; they have been plotting key events (from the dinosaurs through to the birth of Jesus Christ to the invention of the mobile phone) on a timeline and so were able to grasp just how old some of these fossils were.
We would like to thank Dr Williams and Reuben for their time today and for sharing these wonderful items with our school community.
