To celebrate National Poetry Day (October 3rd 2024), our older pupils shared their favourite rhymes with their younger peers in the first of this year’s Buddy Reading Sessions.
These sessions are designed to inspire a shared love of reading and provide our older pupils with valuable mentoring and leadership experience. It was the first time our Year 3 pupils have stepped up into this role and it was wonderful to see them taking their new buddies under their literary wings.
Poetry is an important ingredient in the English menu; it helps with language and literacy development and can support memory development and creative thinking. It is also hugely enjoyable as our photos show!
