After a long and wonderful summer apart, Buddy Reading began once again, and what a joy it was to see. As the older children stepped into the room, the younger pupils’ faces lit up with delight, as though a much-loved character had stepped straight from the pages of a favourite storybook and into their day.
Following a cheerful catch-up and the sharing of summer adventures, the reading began. Soon, the room was transformed into a place of quiet enchantment. Younger children sat captivated, completely absorbed in the stories unfolding before them, while their older buddies heard them read with growing confidence, eager to share their love of books and showcase their developing skills.
There was a wonderful sense of calm and contentment as everyone became immersed in the magic of words. Together, they journeyed through faraway lands, met unforgettable characters, and discovered new adventures, all from the comfort of their classroom.
Buddy Reading is always a special time. It brings children together, nurtures a love of reading, and fills the room with warmth, friendship, and joy. Pupils and staff alike leave each session with smiles on their faces, stories in their imaginations, and a little extra warmth in their hearts.
Our next Buddy Reading session will be in December and is sure to have a wonderfully festive feel. Pupils are encouraged to bring along books sprinkled with a little Christmas magic, ready to share cosy stories, festive adventures and heartwarming moments with their buddies.
