Boarders Have Their Say

The results of our latest Boarders’ Survey are in and it’s official: Truro School Boarding is a fantastic place to be!

Having been selected as a Finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards, we have always had faith that our boarding community offers something special at Truro School, however, it is always good to have this cemented by the people who matter the most; our boarders!

The annual survey is an essential part of our boarding strategy to create an inclusive and enriching experience, fostering academic excellence and personal growth. The survey empowers our boarders to feel that they are a part of the community and can shape it to best fit their individual and collective needs.

A whopping majority of responses were rated ‘Extremely’ or ‘Exceptionally’ in agreement or satisfied in areas including access to co-curricular activities and a breadth of weekend activities. 69% of categories saw an improvement year-on-year in satisfaction. In certain areas, including feeling safe, and knowing who to go to for help and support, ratings were more than 9/10, an exceptional score.

And in areas that matter most to our boarders, such as being able to influence the meals and the quality of food in the boarding houses saw a 24% and 8.6% increase in satisfaction year-on-year.

“Overall, I really love it here. Everybody is super kind and encouraging and boarding is very cool.”
“Miss JJ helps me so much about the subjects, that’s really helpful to me.”
“I really like my house mistress.”
“I enjoy my time in Trennick and Mrs Irven and Mr McEwen are always trying to help and support us. Mr Blackie and Ms Sanderson too.”

We would like to thank our boarders for taking the time to complete this valuable feedback tool.

Head of Boarding, David McKeown, commented, “The results of this year’s Boarders’ Survey are a testament to the vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment we strive to create at Truro School. To see such strong satisfaction in areas like safety, support, and co-curricular opportunities is incredibly rewarding, but what truly excites us is the year-on-year improvement in key areas, reflecting our commitment to listening to our boarders and acting on their feedback. Our community is built on collaboration, and these results confirm that Truro School is not just a place to live and learn, but a home where every voice matters and every individual thrives.”
