Bake-Off Weekend for our Boarders

This weekend was Bake-Off weekend in the boarding houses, with all boarders invited to spend the afternoon in the Cookery School for a spot of Easter cake baking and decorating. Mr Rosenthal, Head of Truro School Cookery, set the task of baking a vanilla sponge with jam and butter cream and creating their own designs inspired by Easter. The teams quickly got to work baking and decorating their creations, ready for the Bake-Off judges.

Congratulations to Clara and Carmen on their winning entry, to Martha and Ari for coming second place and to Esther and Jacinta on a very well deserved third.  With special mention to Justin and Freddie with their ‘Evil Bunny’ that got the ‘Mulready’ seal of approval and to Konstantin, whose cake was the most like the assignment picture. Well done all.

On Sunday evening, the boarders gathered for a fun, flipping frenzy in honour of pancake day. Pancake Day is the Christian celebration of Shrove Tuesday and marks the feast day before the start of Lent. Boarders chose from various toppings and practised their flipping skills, working out the best techniques (with some disasters along the way!) for pancake flipping success.

Well done to all our budding bakers this weekend.
