A Seamless Transition from Pre-Prep to Prep

Parents of our Year 2 Pre-Prep pupils joined Mr Morse and Mr Keveren for a special afternoon visit to the main buildings of Truro School Prep, where they learned more about their child’s transition into Year 3.

As an all-through school, welcoming children from Nursery through to Sixth Form, Truro School understands that moving through key stages can feel both exciting and, at times, daunting. Events such as this are designed to support families and ensure that every pupil feels confident and prepared as they take their next step.

After a warm welcome, there was a briefing on what to expect during this important transition period. Topics included the increase of specialist subject teachers across all subjects from Year 3, how staff help to build confidence and independence, and the wide range of clubs, groups, after-school care, and co-curricular opportunities available.

Mr Keveren also outlined the transition steps already underway in the Pre-Prep, such as familiarisation with the site, classrooms, and larger playgrounds, helping to prepare pupils for what is an exciting move into the Prep.

Mr Morse then explained the broader journey through the Prep School, highlighting how these formative years help shape pupils as they progress through the school. He emphasised the balance between strong academic learning and a rich co-curricular programme, encouraging children to try new things, develop new interests, and grow in confidence.

Parents were then invited to tour the Prep classrooms and grounds, allowing them to see the spaces their children will soon be using, and observe current Year 3 pupils during a typical afternoon.

With dedicated pastoral and teaching support at every stage, Truro School is committed to ensuring a smooth and positive transition for all pupils as they move through the school.
