A Fantastic Afternoon of Kayaking for Year 5

This term, our Year 5 pupils have been enjoying afternoons at Stithians Lake, taking part in a fun-filled kayaking session with instructors from Stithians Lake Watersports Centre as part of their Belerion Award.

Taken from the Ancient Greek word foDevon and Cornwall, the Belerion Award encourages awareness and responsibility for the natural environment through educational visits, physical challenges in wild spaces, a self-guided conservation project and a period of service to the community.

During their kayaking session, our pupils learned important water safety skills and techniques to build their confidence and control on the kayaks.

There was plenty of laughter and teamwork throughout the session, with the pupils tackling a range of challenges and games on the water. From balancing activities to friendly races, everyone showed fantastic determination and enthusiasm while making the most of the beautiful weather.

The day was a brilliant experience for all involved, with so much positivity shown by the pupils throughout. A huge thank you to the staff and instructors for making the trip such an enjoyable and rewarding one.
