Talented Chorister on BBC Radio

As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, Helena Paish was commissioned by Radio 3, along with 6 other women, to compose a movement of a multigenerational piece of choral music that reflects on each composer’s decade and what it means to them to be a woman in 2020. Each female was asked to base their movement on a text that meant something to them. Helena, who was the youngest composer and has recently been offered a place to study music at Trinity College Cambridge, was representing the 00’s. Helena chose a poem by Charlotte Bronte which she said still had relevant themes for today such as taking life as it comes and enjoying all opportunities.

The ‘Seven Ages of Women’ will be aired on Sunday 8 March at 1pm on BBC Radio 3.
