National Spaceport Competition
The National Spaceport Competition asked small teams of First and Second years to design a UK spaceport. They used teamwork and considered performance, environmental sustainability and budgeting to deliver compelling proposals.
The Pupils had to decide whether to design a spaceport, which incorporated either a horizontal take-off launch to put satellites into space, as is the case at Spaceport Cornwall based at Newquay airport or vertical take-off as is the case from one of the islands in the Shetlands.
It was a challenging event that asked the Pupils to take on a lot of information and to back up their designs with persuasive pitches. All the groups did exceptionally well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
