Celebrating European Day of Languages Across Truro School

Truro School and Truro School Prep marked European Day of Languages, celebrating the many languages, cultures and backgrounds that make up our school community.

At the Senior School, Chapels have been led by pupils entirely in different European languages, including Spanish, French and Cornish, giving others the chance to hear and engage with different languages. Throughout the previous week, themed lunches at both sites brought the celebration to the table, with pasta carbonara, paella and Swedish meatballs amongst the dishes served to mark the occasion.

The celebration provides the chance to learn more about the languages and cultures that shape our pupils, students, boarding community, families and staff. It allows us to challenge ourselves to step outside our own language and understand others, and to empower our multicultural community to celebrate what makes it distinctive.
