Weekly News from Pre-Prep 02.10.26

It has been a thoughtful week at Truro School Pre-Prep, with children reflecting on what makes each of us different and unique in an assembly led by School Chaplain Rev Helen, alongside plenty of hands-on learning across the year groups.

In Nursery, the children have enjoyed using paintbrushes and the water tray in the outside area, practising lines and zigzags. This week’s Golden Rules focus has been on being helpful, and they discussed examples of how to be helpful at home, at school and at the supermarket.

Reception have been exploring 10-frames in maths, practising filling and emptying them using natural objects, while in Drawing Club they have been exploring nursery rhymes and using their phonics to describe the characters.

In Year 1, literacy has focused on different word types, with pupils noun hunting and using adjectives to describe their nouns. In science, they have been discussing animals that live in polar regions and have conducted an experiment to test the insulating properties of blubber.

Year 2 have been learning about human anatomy, identifying different muscle groups and how they move during exercise, and in computing they have been exploring how to type on a Word document, writing sentences and changing fonts. Excitement was also high for Year 2 Roman Day, one of the highlights of the year.
