The Year 10 geologists enjoyed a fantastic day in the field, putting their classroom learning into practice at two contrasting Cornwall locations.
The fieldwork began at Godrevy on the north coast, where pupils demonstrated real curiosity as they explored how slates form through metamorphism, investigated the processes behind an impressive unconformity, and considered evidence for past sea-level change using the raised beach. In the afternoon, the group travelled to Praa Sands to examine igneous and metamorphic processes linked to an igneous dyke.
Throughout the day, pupils showed excellent collaboration, working together to interpret complex geological features and producing detailed field notes that impressed the Geology teachers. It was an inspiring day that brought geology to life.
