Truro School Prep has been celebrating its 90th anniversary with a joyful look back at its rich history.
At the heart of the celebrations is a newly updated display cabinet in the foyer of Treliske House, curated by Truro School Archivist Jo Wood and Development and Alumni Relations Officer Amanda Forde.
The display offers a fascinating journey through the school’s early years, featuring its first mention in the school prospectus, a report of the official opening from the school magazine, and early advertisements promoting the Prep.
Pupils and visitors can also explore a list of the very first pupils, material from the inaugural sports day held in 1936, and a collection of historic school uniform, including ties, caps and rugby kit from the time.
Among the highlights is a former pupil’s blazer dating back to 1936 in the original school colours, alongside a photograph titled ‘Our Gang’ from 1938, capturing some of the first boys who joined the school in its opening months.
Complementing the physical display, a touch-screen archive allows pupils to delve deeper into the shared history of both the Prep and Senior School, bringing the past to life for a new generation.
