Weekly News from Pre-Prep 05.06.26

This week in Pre-Prep has been full of exploration, creativity and new experiences across all year groups.

Nursery children enjoyed a sensory nature walk around the grounds, using their hands to feel, their noses to smell, their eyes to observe, and their ears to listen carefully to the world around them. They spotted bumblebees, plants, woodlouse and birds, and used some wonderful descriptive vocabulary such as bumpy, rough, soft and wet to describe what they found.

Reception pupils have been learning all about time, thinking about the different parts of the day and what activities might happen at each point. In Drawing Club, they have been reading The Elves and the Shoemaker and enjoyed writing letters to the elves, asking for help with jobs at home.

In Year 1, pupils have been exploring the Cornish legend of Agnes and the Bolster in their literacy lessons, discussing characters and thinking creatively about how the story could be changed. In science, they have been investigating what plants need to grow, carrying out an experiment to discover whether water, soil or light is most important.

Year 2 pupils have been building confidence in maths by applying their knowledge of times tables to solve multiplication problems. As part of their transition experience, they also visited the Prep School DT workshop, where they enjoyed designing and creating their own wooden robots with Mrs Knight.
