Weekly News from Pre-Prep 22.05.26

It has been another busy week at Truro School Pre-Prep, with pupils enjoying a wide range of hands-on learning experiences both in and out of the classroom.

In Nursery, our youngest learners have been exploring the natural world through texture, getting messy with water and mud, and experimenting with playdough mixed with rice and couscous. These sensory activities sparked lots of discussion, with pupils confidently describing how different materials felt, developing their early language skills.

Reception pupils have been inspired by their ongoing focus on lightkeeper stories, channelling their creativity into lighthouse art. They carefully considered changes from day to night, using bright colours for daylight before switching to darker tones to reflect nighttime. A highlight of the week was their trip to Gwennap Pit.

Year 1 has been busy developing their scientific knowledge by identifying different types of leaves and learning to distinguish between evergreen and deciduous trees. In humanities, they explored Cornwall’s rich mining heritage, discussing what life was like for miners and why the industry was so important to the region’s history and communities.

Meanwhile, Year 2 pupils have been preparing for their end-of-year assembly. Alongside rehearsals, they have enjoyed transition opportunities, including time in the Prep playground, watching the Year 4 production and taking part in a variety of activities designed to support their move into the Prep from September.
