It is with immense pleasure, on behalf of the leadership team and the Governing Body, to introduce you to Rob Morse’s successor as Head of Truro School Prep.
Mr Daniel Simons joins Truro School Prep after five years of successful, compassionate and transformative leadership as Head of Bodriggy Academy. Shining through the recruitment process has been his passion for belonging and community, for the highest educational expectations, and for ensuring the best opportunities exist for every child in his care.
Daniel brings not only deep understanding and knowledge of Cornwall, and his Masters and NPQH qualifications in School Leadership, but wider experience that includes being a local, national and international educational consultant, including on digital education, and a former Boarding House Tutor at Dean House Preparatory School in Gloucestershire.
Daniel’s track record of nurture for children, approachability for families, and ambition for schools, means he is perfectly placed to build on existing school strength. His stewardship of our school will be approached with the dedication and authenticity of a leader who understands what our school can do to transform lives. He was, himself, an assisted places pupil at Truro School. This has shaped his lifelong commitment to learning, in and out of the classroom, and a passion for sport, the creative arts, and community. An all-round sportsman and former nationally ranked long-distance runner, Daniel is supported by his wife, Amanda, also a teacher, and two talented children. He brings a dynamic balance of professional insight, community understanding, and educational ambition. Daniel was the strongest candidate in a field that included experienced Heads from across the UK and abroad. We are delighted to welcome him and his family into our community to build on the reputation, success, and pervasive warmth of Rob’s outstanding tenure.
Daniel writes: “I am delighted and deeply honoured to be appointed as the next Head of Truro School Prep. My time as a Truro School pupil had a significant influence on my life, and it is a privilege to return to a community that means so much to me. I look forward to working with pupils, staff and families to build on the school’s many strengths and to ensure that every child receives an inspiring and memorable primary education.”
Daniel joins us in January 2027. Between now and then Rob continues to work tirelessly for the Prep children and our school. Having two terms of handover will enable him and Daniel to build a strong relationship, about which both leaders are excited, to share wisdom and experience. We are thrilled to support and oversee this transition across 2026.
Head of Truro School, Andy Johnson, commented: “The Governing Body and I are delighted to have recruited a Head with Daniel’s values, ambition, and expertise, as well as his existing passion for our school. He will build astutely for the future, putting always the education and wellbeing of children first. We know you will join us in welcoming him and his family into our community.”
