Cathedral Choristers are Made Up

On Sunday, 22nd March, our seven probationers were admitted into Truro Cathedral Choir as full choristers after completing nearly two terms of training. During the Sunday morning service, they were presented to the congregation and given their white surplices as a mark of becoming full members of the choir.

The new choristers then signed the beautiful old book, which is a record of everyone who has been a member of the choir, including directors of music and organists, going back to its formation in the 1880s. It was especially good for our new choristers, Raphie and Alexia, to sign the same book their father had signed previously; they all found his signature from when he became a chorister in the 1990s!

Sunday also marked the first time that Truro Cathedral Choir’s age 8-13 chorister programme will be mixed-gender, with wider access opportunities for all children. Many congratulations to Alexia, Finley, Lowena, Raphie, Saffron, Wilbo and Wilf!
