Year 5 Shine in “Divine Interventions”

Our incredible Year 5 pupils lit up the Prep Assembly Hall with Divine Interventions, a warm-hearted and witty Christmas play written and directed by our very own Annabel Gregory. Set within a celestial agency run by busy and occasionally bewildered angels, the story follows Archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael as they dash between Heaven and Earth to deliver messages, guide humans, and ultimately remind today’s children of the true meaning of Christmas.

The play opens in 1BC, where work at “Divine Interventions” appeared quiet, until The Boss called with an urgent mission. From there, the audience was treated to a delightful journey through three acts, each led by a different Year 5 form. With the three archangels reappearing throughout the story, multiple pupils had the chance to step into their shining shoes, bringing humour, warmth and character to these iconic roles.

The production was a true team effort. The wonderful costumes and props, crafted by Sue Rowe, brought heavenly flair to the stage, while atmospheric clouds from Bex Knight and the DT subject leaders added a touch of magic. Thanks also go to James Frewer for technical support, Angela Renshaw for the uplifting “Glory to God” music, and Sue McIntosh and her team for set building and logistics.

The seamless performance was made possible by the dedication of staff across the school who supported rehearsals and preparations.

Congratulations to all our talented Year 5 pupils for a joyful and spirited performance that set the perfect tone for the festive season.
