Our youngest pupils at Truro School Prep have had another fantastic week packed full of curiosity, learning and fun.
Our Nursery children have started looking at how things grow as a part of their farming topic. They have looked a life cycles and talked about what things need to grow. They have also looked at different types of farms and farm shops. Some of our newest Nursery pupils have enjoyed their first fire in Forest School, while work has continued on their artwork for the Assembly Hall display.
Continuing their topic on dinosaurs, our Reception pupils have turned scientists and have been investigating how we can use coprolite (dinosaur faeces) to identify what a dinosaur ate. They also made their own ‘dino dung’ biscuits and even found some time for some yoga with Mrs Millne.
In maths, pupils have been building 3D shapes using spaghetti and playdough and identifying the shape of each face.
Our Year 1 pupils have begun writing their innovated versions of The Jungle Book. They have been carefully considering how to improve their writing by including key writing techniques and language. In science, they experimented to see how blubber insulates animals from colder habitats.
In science this week, our Year 2s have investigated the absorbency of different fabrics and experimented to find out which material is the most waterproof. This week, in literacy, they started the story of Little Red Riding Hood and will start to consider the structure of a good fictional tale.
Alongside plenty of hard work, our children have also enjoyed Forest School sessions, swimming, games and cross-curricular clubs.
