This term, 5RK and 6AG have been learning German as a part of their Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) carousel. Led by Mrs Palmer, these sessions are designed to be engaging and fun, making use of songs and games to support learning.
Pupils from 5RK have been learning the numbers 1-12 in German and have enjoyed participating in a song about time. As you can see from our photos, the children were tasked with using their arms as clock hands as they counted along.
6AG has been busy learning a traditional counting rhyme as part of their playground topic and did fantastically well, with many of the pupils being able to recite the full rhyme independently and without prompts. The children particularly enjoyed getting other children ‘out’; requiring them to sit down from their circle.
Throughout the term, our Year 5s will learn how to meet and greet in German, consider the similarities and differences in schools in England and Germany and learn key vocabulary around going to school. Alongside their playground topic, our Year 6 pupils will also learn phonics and conjugating verbs. We look forward to sharing more progress with you soon.
