Year 4 Walk Around the Roseland Peninsula

Having such a rich ‘outdoor classroom’ in the Cornish countryside and coastline, enables our pupils to benefit from first- hand experience to supplement their learning. The Year 4 children walked from Porth Farm to St Anthony Head on 12 September, taking in the former Augustinian Priory of Place Manor, its adjoining Church and St Anthony Lighthouse. They also visited the gun emplacements dating back to the Nineteenth Century.  The walk was about 5.5 kilometres long, which gave plenty of opportunity to look and learn from the flora, fauna and the sea. We saw such navigational features as the Cardinal marks and were fortunate enough to see a wonderful twin-masted ship  As ever, we managed a picnic on the beach- always a feature of these walks!
