It won’t have escaped your notice that we have had our fair share of rain recently. The children were therefore hugely relieved to find out that the Peninsula Partnership Cross Country at Pool Academy was going ahead last Wednesday.
This annual event is the qualifier for the county finals, to be held at Newquay sports centre next Thursday 16th March. Our eighteen runners coped extremely well with the pressure of their races. It’s not an easy task – the course is flat and fast and the distances test the stamina of even the most talented runners, with Year 4 running 800 metres, Year 5 running 1,200 metres and Year 6 running 1,600 metres.
After making changes to the course to make the ground conditions safer, it didn’t alter the fact that 60 children were gathered at the start line and getting a good start was the most important thing, with those finishing in the top 15 in each race qualifying for the County Finals.
I am very proud of all of our teams, with the Year 4 runners running brilliantly and qualifying for the County Finals, we wish Anna, Alice, Cassius, Rory and Billy good luck in Newquay next Thursday!
Thank you to all of the parents who attended and gave their support and encouragement.
