As I reflect on the past week’s events I realize there is certainly never a dull moment in the Pre-Prep and that, even at this stage of the term, I never cease to be amazed by the tireless energy and enthusiasm of my staff who work so hard to provide such a rich and varied curriculum for our pupils.
Watching our 11 chicks hatch out over the week was completely awe-inspiring for both children and staff and the work that has been generated across the department through this experience has quite simply been exceptional. The chicks are growing quickly and are now becoming very used to greeting their Pre-Prep friends, and Mr Lovett’s assembly on the adventures of Winifred, his broody hen, captivated the children and dominated many a playtime conversation this week!
It was lovely to be able to welcome so many grandparents into our department on Thursday and for them to have a snapshot of life at Truro Prep. The children loved this opportunity to talk with our visitors and were delighted to share their learning with them.
Year 2 had another wonderful DVD and duvet night, this time the chosen film was ‘The Jungle Book’, which everyone enjoyed singing along to. Party games, bowls of cereal and lashings of hot chocolate and marshmallows all helped to make a perfect evening.
Our week finished with the children in Year 1 hosting a spectacular tea party for their mums to celebrate Mothering Sunday. The children had baked cakes, made bunting, tablecloths and flower arrangements and provided a magical afternoon of entertainment for them. For me the highlight of the week has to be watching the children waltzing with their mums, a moment to treasure!
